LOCAL ATTRACTIONS In addition to viewing the Badlands there are many other local activities including Horseback Trailrides, Rock-Hunting, 20 miles of designated hiking trails, fossil digging by paleontologists from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, wildlife viewing on Sage Creek Rim Road which is home to over 500 head of buffalo and thousands of black tailed prairie dogs, and a variety of ranger programs for all ages which start at 8:00 A.M. and conclude at 11:30 P.M. each day. For those who wish to venture further, there are many significant national and internationally recognized attractions that provide a enjoyable day trip.
